This is the blog for the Round Square International Service Project in South Africa, July 2015. 22 students and 4 teachers from 19 schools & 10 countries, met on July 10th in White River. The aim of the project is to build a much needed library for the Lwaleng Primary School, in a township, just outside White River, Mpumalanga.
The team will also paint the classroom built by the 2014 team as well as paint some of the older classrooms and create some interesting murals. In addition students will run a holiday camp with enrichment activities for 45 Lwaleng students. The team will also be visiting the Masoyi Special Care Centre and Uthando Orphanage playing educational games with the children and constructing a jungle gym.
Other activities during the project include a visit to Elephant Whispers where students will learn about these gentle giants. Cultural experiences include an evening with the Savuka Africa Youth Crew and a drumming workshop. The team will also be spending two days at Eco Traning campsite and a day at Kruger National Park.
